Runkelstein Castle and the Voynich Manuscript

Runkelstein Castle

Runkelstein Castle , in the South Tyrol, dates from the 13th. century and contains a set of mural paintings / frescoes that contain some features that are reminiscent of some images in the Voynich Manuscript. See this link for a collection of photos from the Castle. (Images in this post are copies from there and from http://www.runkelstein.info)

History of the Castle

In summary, it was built by the Lords of Wangen in 1237, then taken over by Count Meinhard II of Tyrol in 1277, then bought by the Vintlers in 1385, one of whom was the counsellor and financier of the Count of  Tyrol, Duke Leopold III of Austria. The Vintlers commissioned the frescos.  Then in 1407 it was besieged. It was bought sometime later by Archduke  Sigmund, who allowed George Hack Prince-Bishop of Trent to “take refuge” there in 1463. He left in 1465. In 1530 it was bought by  Emperor Maximilian I, who installed his coat of arms in two places (above a door and on top of a chimney). Actually the date of 1530 for this appears at odds with the rest of the history on the web  page, which talks of the Emperor giving it to his chancellor in 1493, then to Georg von Frundsberg. One of these dudes blew up  the tower accidentally in 1520.

Then it was neglected until 1530 when it was bestowed to Sigmund von Brandis. After that it went to the Church of Trent (again) and they gave it to the Counts of Lichenstein-Castlecorno as a feud in around 1154. The Count Hans Jacon’s arms are on top of the entrance.

Woman Holding Round Object

The interesting similarity here is the pose of the two women, which is almost identical. Also note they are both holding round objects, and wearing head dresses that have a central feature. The woman depicted on the Runkelstein fresco is Margarete Maultasch (“satchel-mouth”), countess and ruler of Tyrol (1318-1369) .

Regarding mystery traditions, bipolarities (Merlin going mad after battle) and how ancients balanced them (alchemy equilibrium between sun-red and moon-white), we can look at castle at Dinas Emrys.

There is a pool by the dueling dragons, white and red, and this is likely as much internal alchemy as anything. If in fact Toxoplasma Gondii’s affect on our behavior makes us more into a beehive social relationship structure, or alpha wolf type of structure (this is going far out on limb) then maybe indeed there is a seemingly “one eye” sense of psychic struggle. Notice in the pool, a plant. 🙂

It is very clear that T. Gondii and its effects on personality (creating bipolar or mild shizophrenia, or ocd like limbic behavior) were part of the fabric of Western European pagan religions, maybe not even influenced by Mediterranean (except via importation of cats and goats). An account of the trance state of the Druids and Poets shows clearly that they “chewed on raw meat” including cat or pigs flesh.

Considering the left hemisphere and right hemisphere of each of our brains being the ultimate balance of alchemy (either side representing sun or moon, but typically left hand right hemisphere moon, right hand left hemisphere sun-masculine), we need to refer to ancient texts and what happened during ecstatic warrior states or visionary mania.

    Warp Spasm of Cuchulainn

    “His face and features became a red bowl;
    he sucked one eye so deep into his head that a wild crane could not probe it onto his cheek out of the depths of his skull;
the other eye fell out along his cheek.”

And here is account of Mug Ruith, Blind Druid of Munster…

“The mediaeval legend tells how one of his eyes was lost in Alps becoming a ‘snow-calf’ or mound, the other eye was destroyed while trying to stop the course of the sun for two days. He is able to fly and spy upon his enemies. His magical equipment includes his ‘encennach’ – bird head-dress and his ‘roth ramach’ (rowing wheel) which are the tools he uses to fly through the sky.”

Now how could the water vats be important, aside from hiding the gold mud activity. Or maybe being “secret sirens” of the local communion cups? (Notice both of the women who are throwing the “balls” with their ride hand are holding their buttocks with their left hands.)

To bring Cuchulainn out of his “battle mania” (hunting here applies?) he is shamed (or brain energy diverted) by naked women (another story it is not here) he is dipped in three vats of cold water

Then Labraid entreated Cuchulain to stay his hand from the slaying; and “I fear now,” said Laeg, “that the man will turn his wrath upon us; for he hath not found a war to suffice him. Go now,” said Laeg, “and let there be brought three vats of cold water to cool his heat. The first vat into which he goeth shall boil over; after he hath gone into the second vat, none shall be able to bear the heat of it: after he hath gone into the third vat, its water shall have but a moderate heat.”

So if in fact (read the other post have) we have Toxoplasmosis in these folks, and it is causing a bipolar disorder (many geniuses and tyrants have had manic depression, only now discovered Toxoplasmosis a culprit in at least 1/5th) then cold water hydrotherapy is unsticking the left hemisphere (implicated in mania, Icarus flying towards sun). Jack Pettigrew of Queensland University has proved it.

Now why the telescopes or Microscopes? Possibly also an alchemical therapy of aligning the left hemisphere and right hemisphere was to make a tube to look through which rebalanced brain or unstuck a hemisphere from mania or depression. Jack Pettigrew on interhemispheric switching:

If we equate the Augur or visionary/poetic aspect of Brigid (Ffraid in Wales) with Freya in Norse and Scandinavian, we have an “ocular” aspect… (from notes).

In Celtic Christian lore, St. Brigit becomes the midwife and foster-mother of Christ, and the perpetual helper and friend of Mary. the Gaelic method of the “frith” was said to derive from the loss of Christ by Mary in the Temple:

The augury which Brigid made for her Foster-son:
She made a pipe of her palms:
‘I see the Foster-Son by the side of the well,
    Teaching the people without doubt.

Sometimes the augury is made by Mary:

The augury made by gentle Mary for her Son,
The Queen of Virgins look through her palms:
‘Did you see the King of Life?’
The Queen of Virgins said that she saw.”

This method of curling the hands to form a ‘seeing-tube’ seems to have been used by ‘frithirs’ for discovering lost people and animals, or to discover the health of an absent being. The use of the palms is also widespread in Irish Gaelic usage, where the palms are used to provide a ‘seeing-space’ or tabula rasa, to block out the light or to focus the seer. Here, real shamanic vision was employed to discover the unknown.

    …. ok, that is enough.

Another post after seeing more frescoes from the Runkelstein Castle

OK, so here was where the “gold mud” was stored…
They are pointing to the Green of Osiris. Wow, like
Tuonetar’s cup/grail, there could have been worms inside.
    Looks pretty mysterious to me.

And here are the dueling red and white Dragons of Dinas Emrys.

You notice on the shield below is a horned ram figure. This is Camulus
(Belgic British deity, horned Ram) likely also Egyptian mystery tradition
of Mendes. This would also be ancient Celtic Cernunnos (red deer have
Toxoplasma Gondii as well) which is root word for Corona, Koenig, Crown.

Were Frescos of Arthurian themes done after date of this manuscript?
If so it is almost certain that John Dee assembled this information from
secret or losts Welsh texts which had entire mystery tradition. It could in
fact be a preservation of a Phoenician or Egyptian tradition.

Camulus is suspiciously like “Camel” of which Gimmel and Gamal are cognates.
Interestingly the sports center of Egypt was also mummified cat central and the
first field hockey games in art appear to arise at Beni Hassan Egypt.
Irish field Hockey dated 3,000 years ago is called “Caman” and of course
the german word for merriment or having fun (game) is Gaman.

    Gosh, sorry I’ve digressed.

Ok, John Dee meets Rudolph II, and there may have been duplicate text 10 years earlier in Hungary?

“If the white woman is married to a red husband, soon they will embrace

and the things embraced are conceived. They dissolve by themselves,

they are sometimes perfected by themselves: that the two which they

were may become one in the body. There are two things firstly: the Sun

with the Moon, at the base however. Make it, you shall see, a stone

    is made from these things.

By the power of the Moon the Sun cut through with the act of rebis. The

Sun approaches the moon through the middle and makes one thing. The

Sun stretches the sail and travels through the sky on the ecliptic. It runs

where the sublime Moon retreats this one at last. That the light may be

given it which is kept back in the Sun. Nor does it truly depart, but wishes

to remain with it, illustrating certainly the dead body openly. If you knew

rebis you would know what it was. This art is dear, short, light and rare.

Our art is a game to a boy, labour to a woman. Know, all ye sons of this

art that none can gather the fruit of our elixir except by entering our

elemented stone. Even if he seeks another way, he will never enter the way

nor attain it. Rust is the work which is made from gold alone until it enters

    into its humidity. ”

So the huntsman is the Greene Knight of Arthurian Lore. The Castle has Arthurian themes. In kind of a rivalry of voodoo, different Kings had setup different “round tables” of influence or even basis of witch craft. No wonder James the 1st was paranoid of which craft and accused Bothwell and scottish seers of plotting, maybe this T. Gondii can be influence in a weird way.

“Apparently after bragging about the excellence of his famed Round Table, King Arthur is told by Guinevere that another king has an even better one. Arthur’s men discover Cornwall has sent a seven-headed monster, a sprite named Burlow Beanie, to spy on them. Sir Bredbeddle, the Green Knight, wages a long battle against him with a sword from Cologne, a Milanese knife, a Danish axe, and finally a sacred page which gives him the upper hand. As a test of his control over the creature, he orders him to fetch a horse. Though Burlow Beanie obeys, he rebels when another knight, Marramile, tries to control him, and the Green Knight is called in to help. A missing section likely described Arthur’s men taking possession of Cornwall’s other magical objects and learning the secret of their use from the sprite. The remaining text describes Arthur beheading King Cornwall with his own sword; the final missing half page likely described his triumph”.

OK Green Knight is “Bredbeddle” and sprite is called “Burlow Beanie”, as in gold mud, as in dingleberry as in “Beanie Below”? Beddle BRead IS A chamber pot? Wow.so now we know how the Osiris/GreenWater/Greene Knight fit into Druidical magical/Queen Bee King Drone societies? Holy Toxoplasmosis, no wonder there is feeling of “one ring” to rule them all, a staring “eye” (third eye) etc. Also how buddhist yogis and st. francis maybe talk with birds.

Have a bunch of comments. It is interesting in esoteric lore that the authors of the the book of Kells slept on burial mounds (one can get toxoplasma Gondii from chewing on blades of grass in grave yards) and Isaac Luria slept on graves of Tzadik (holy men).

Personally I’ve had a hunch that I’ve had Toxoplasmosis and eventually tested seropositive. My father took me around world, and one time went all over France “manically” searching for the battlefields my grandfather fought on in WWI. Am wondering if there is some kind of transference of Lore which happens in graveyards with Toxoplasma Gondii? Ancestral memory? Even before I got tested had this one experience where I was drawn to the local military cemetery. It was total trance the flowers, my poor kids, but they had fun just following along.

Of course here is a more “sprite” little people “king under the mountain” motif for Toxoplasma Gondii and how it spreads, mostly due to war. Goat milk, camel milk, congenital. “Untouchables”…

John Dee of course very close to Earl of Oxford (17th) DeVere, supposed real Shakespeare, and wonder if this was Dee’s witch table, and DeVere the Green man (notoriously hypomanic genious and spendthrift, hallmark of Toxoplasmotic manics).

Maybe this is all ancestral memory for me.

The Amygdala of course is where Toxoplasmosis seems to target (uncontrollable rage, tyranny, werewolf archetype) and any peeling back of reasoning we can access our ancestral memories in a trance state.

Interesting the Amygdala on Hippocampus structure is shaped like Rams Horns…

Considering “Green Man” or Greene Knight I think you’ll find the Groeninger Coat of Arms interesting. Wolfsanger upright is kind of Odal Ulf or Adolf (high wolf) instead of prostrate Wolfsangel rune which means were wolf.

Regarding all the STARS at Runkelstein Castle, it kind of fits with Egyptian Geb Nut motif also Osiris (death green man) panels. And there appears to be intact mystery tradition in Cantonal Switzerland (actually the oldest surviving Celtic government system, cantonal, remains in Switzerland). You have Sternen und Spaten (heaven and earth). You have communion of wine (red) and bread (white) which is also alchemy.

Wow that is just about enough from me.

With the Huntsman on the Fresco is that a sheep or ram caught in the the thicket just above the arrow?

Anyway presence of sheep usually actually increases local vegetation (fertilizer).

Considering John Dee’s presentation to the Hungarians 10 years early, possibly the “Aries” to “Taurus” representations are the occultic infection from ram or sheep matter (semen, blood or raw meat) to the human host. Again here, certain spells in voodoo involve saliva of human, cat/other feces, blood even semen.

We have on the coat of arm a “kind of” Aries crooked shield at bottom and then a straightening out Taurid Horns at top.

You have of course a similar Baphomet (Cathar?) alchemical symbol of push and pull, sun and moon.

Here are articles showing medical studies on seroprevalence of T. Gondii in Rams and Sheep.

Of course in Egypt the main source of meat was Nubian Ibex and they had a Ram god at Mendes of which cult was…kind of gross, going Zoo on the Ram/Sheep.

“In Ancient Egypt, at the temple in Mendes, the goat was viewed as the incarnation of the god of procreation. As a ritual of worship, the male priests would use female goats for sex, and the female priests would do likewise with male goats.[1] Similar activity was also witnessed in Ancient Greece.[2] In the Middle Ages, the goat was associated with the Devil as one of his preferred forms, often in connection with sexual deviance. Women under trial as witches were forced to confess that they had sexual contact with the Devil in the form of an animal. In this regard however the goat was of the minority of forms the devil was cited to have taken.”

Regarding Arthurian connections, of course what most people are ignorant of is that Camulus was a pan North German-Belgic-British deity seemingly extant through the ancient Welsh speaking Britain…Wales, West and North Britain, Cumbria.

Camulus was a Ram horned deity.

As Toxoplasma Gondii can make one berserk, via a bipolar disorder needing alchemy, or a kind of heightened awareness due to influx of dopamine to Brain, it may in fact have created the basis of men becoming Kings. Toxoplasmosa Gondii is also extant in Red Deer (Cernunnos, Corona, Crown).

This process of going from Ram to Bull, likely is also extant in the Iberian “Pedra Formosa” or ritual bath system, which consisted of three stages (much like CuChulainn’s three vats of water coming down from warp spasm, battle mania).

The Shaman or Warrior would literally have a kind of rebirth from the inner hotter chamber, maybe spending a day, and then progress outwards.

Of course the arrogant classical education of rennaissance through 20th century we would overlook Spain as a possible good reflection on mystery traditions. In fact most of Western European males are Y-DNA haplogroup R1b (including British Royals, Tudors) which most were huddled South of Pyrenees during ice age. Furthermore we have the Germanic tribe the Suevi having taken over NW spain much later. Around 50 B.C. however most of the “fortress on hill” towns in NW Spain end in “briga”.

This is related to Welsh word for “apex” or peak, and likely an ancient IE word which forms basis for goddess Brigid. In fact in my studies of Dharma the root word for highest realization in some Hindu practices “Brahman”…BRH is the root word which means elevated, so the goddess religion likely is root of this realization (still evident in tantric, or kashmiri shaivism). So here we have a likely Belgic people which stretch from North Britain to Kildare (Brigid’s cult center) called the Brigantes (goddess Brigid, or the peak people).

Why do I digress here? Well because where my father’s folk Y-DNA comes from, Huddersfield area (am related to Oxford Genetic Detective Bryan Sykes) is a “Castle Hill” in Almondbury. It is called “Camuloduno” (fortress of Camulus) and has the Vesica Pisces/Almond/Amygdala shape.

Anyway, digression, but it is certain as today’s modern populations of France (88% seropositive) and Germany (80% seropositive) have Toxoplasmosis and it affects behavior, whether there was Royal Witchcraft or certain sauna yogas or there is actually a seeming “psychic” type of mind which happens… is still up for further study.

To know how wild the effects (of unclean vs clean) on the secret “left hand” or “Kaula” traditions, here are some good videos. We may now know how the “Mananan mac Lir” or King Lear went mad, this stuff accesses ancestral memory including mammal, and on a positive note…maybe back to “floating lotus” peaceful existence.

Naan Kadavul (Aham Brahamsi…I am God)

Aghora Skol/Skal tradition, find the teachers skull, you may know his/her thoughts
    (Tuonetar’s grail has worms)

    Very unsanitary…
